The TraceHush app and Safari extension do not collect, sell, share, or transmit personal data. They have no analytics, account system, or TraceHush server component.
1. Information the app and extension collect
None. The TraceHush app and Safari extension do not collect personal information, browsing history, page contents, search queries, IP addresses, device identifiers, or advertising identifiers.
2. Information stored on your device
The TraceHush containing app and Safari extension use an on-device App Group to share your master-switch preference, subscription state, and hostnames you explicitly allow. The extension may also keep the corresponding runtime rule identifiers and local apply-status records. These values are not sent to TraceHush. You can remove an allowed hostname from Allowed Websites in the containing app or by resuming protection from Safari.
3. How blocking and filter updates work
TraceHush first provides one compatibility-focused package of known advertising and tracking rules to Safari's declarative request-blocking engine, including a small documented set of targeted Yahoo ad-auction resources. Safari evaluates those rules. A secondary cosmetic layer processes limited webpage structure temporarily on the device to hide reviewed advertising elements and placeholders, including ads inserted after initial page load. It does not read or store form entries, passwords, private messages, or general article text. TraceHush does not receive or log matched requests or page contents. The extension does not download filter or cosmetic rules remotely; reviewed changes arrive only in a signed TraceHush app update through Apple.
4. Permissions
The extension uses declarative network request access to apply packaged rules, local storage for runtime settings, temporary active-tab access after you open its toolbar control so it can offer a pause option, and all-sites website access for on-device cosmetic cleanup. Page processing remains in memory, is not retained or transmitted, and stops when the page closes or protection is disabled.
5. Subscriptions and StoreKit
The containing app uses Apple's StoreKit to display subscription products, complete or restore purchases, determine subscription entitlement, and open Apple's subscription-management interface. Apple processes those operations under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. TraceHush does not operate an account, receipt server, or subscription backend, and it does not receive your browsing activity through StoreKit.
6. Third parties and filter sources
The app and extension contain no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Packaged domain rules are derived from exact, pinned revisions of the ShadowWhisperer BlockLists Ads and Tracking lists, distributed under the Unlicense public-domain dedication. Allowed-website and filter-compilation safety checks use an exact, pinned Public Suffix List snapshot distributed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. These sources are packaged on the device; the extension does not contact their projects. Packaged notices include the source revisions, hashes, licenses, modification notes, and generated-output hashes.
7. This website
This website is hosted by Squarespace. TraceHush does not add analytics, advertising pixels, accounts, forms, or nonessential cookies. Squarespace may process limited technical information, such as an IP address and request details, and use cookies needed to securely and reliably deliver the site. Those website delivery records are separate from the TraceHush app and Safari extension.
8. Children's privacy
Because the TraceHush app and extension collect no personal data, they do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Changes
If these practices change, this policy will be updated before a release that introduces the change. The effective date at the top will also change.
10. Support
Setup guidance is available on the TraceHush support page. For direct support, email support@tracehush.com. If you contact support, TraceHush receives your email address and the information you choose to include and uses it to respond, troubleshoot, maintain TraceHush, and help protect the support channel from misuse. The support mailbox is provided through Google Workspace. Support communication is separate from the TraceHush app and Safari extension; the app and extension do not attach or transmit your browsing activity to a support message. Do not send passwords, payment information, private messages, or sensitive browsing or page content. Support messages may be retained as reasonably necessary for these purposes and legal obligations.
